Chaos and Evolution: Kenjaku’s True Goal in the Culling Game Explained

In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, few villains are as patient or as terrifying as Kenjaku. While Sukuna represents overwhelming power, Kenjaku represents the ultimate puppeteer. After centuries of body-hopping and meticulous planning, his grand design finally manifested through the Culling Game. But what exactly was he trying to achieve? It wasn’t just about killing sorcerers; it was about the forced evolution of the human race.

    The Optimization of Cursed Energy

Kenjaku’s core philosophy revolves around the “optimization” of Cursed Energy. He believes that the current state of humanity is stagnant. For a thousand years, he experimented with different ways to evolve humans into something more—a pursuit that led to the creation of the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings. However, he eventually realized that he could never create something beyond his own potential if he remained the one in control. This led to his decision to spark a chaotic event that even he couldn’t fully manage.

    The Merger with Master Tengen

The Culling Game was not just a battle royale; it was a massive, high-stakes ritual designed to prepare Japan for the “Merger.” By capturing Master Tengen—the immortal sorcerer who maintains the barriers across Japan—Kenjaku gained the key to his plan. Because Tengen has evolved beyond a human state, they are now more “Spirit” than “Human.” This makes Tengen compatible with the general population of Japan.

Kenjaku’s goal is to force a merger between Tengen and every non-sorcerer in the country. This would result in the creation of a single, massive cursed entity—an “all-in-one” being that represents the pinnacle of Cursed Energy.

Why did Kenjaku start the Culling Game?

Unlike many villains who seek to rule the world, Kenjaku is driven by a terrifyingly simple motivation: curiosity. He wants to see what will happen when humanity evolves into this singular entity. He famously stated that he wanted to “see a chaos that I cannot control.” To him, the world is a laboratory, and the Culling Game was the final experiment to see if a new form of existence could be birthed from the discarded remnants of the old world.

The Legacy of the Culling Game

The Culling Game served as the “fuel” for this merger. By forcing sorcerers to kill one another within specific barriers, Kenjaku generated enough cursed energy to facilitate the merger process. Even after his physical defeat, the rules he implemented ensured that the game would continue until only one outcome remained: the end of the world as we know it. For fans of Jujutsu Kaisen, Kenjaku’s plan remains the most ambitious and destructive goal in the history of the series.
